Opening Reception - Carvings by Donald Quigley

  • Pride Center 25 Victory Boulevard Staten Island, NY, 10301 United States (map)

Donald Quigley, wood carver and teacher, discovered his passion for the medium later in life when he was introduced to GRIOT Circle, a non-profit LGBT organization for adults (50+). It was at GRIOT Circle where he took his first wood carving class, instantly loving the craft. Recognizing Don’s quality wood carving talents and his ability to pass his knowledge on to others, GRIOT Circle offered Don a class instruction job where for the past fourteen years Don has skillfully instructed the organization’s LGBT older adults in the art of wood carvings.

Don keeps his own artistry up to date by continuing his education in wood carving via weekly classes with a Master carver George Chau. Don was born and raised in Brooklyn NY where lives with his spouse.

GRIOT Circle is the Brooklyn partner of SAGE, Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders. Pride Center of Staten Island is the equivalent partner in Staten Island. SAGE-Pride Center of Staten Island will be hosting the opening night reception in recognition of this partnership and in honor of Mr. Quigley.

Pride Center of Staten Island is part of the Second Saturday Staten Island Art Walk

This event is free and open to all 21 and over.
